At long last, somebody’s come up with a piece of Asperger-friendly kit!

This is probably an art project. I cannot read the notes in the source page, so it’s only conjecture, but I’m inspired by the possibility.

It may be impractical to expect that, for example, colleagues in the workplace would adopt the device so I (and others like me) could clearly see others’ emotional state by observing their face. That’s a pity, and perhaps a lighter version of the apparatus, or a small, lapel-mounted version would be worth considering.

I’d wear one, even in its current configuration. The benefits are multiple:

  • Firstly, the problem of neurotypicals wrongly second-guessing my emotional state would be alleviated;
  • Secondly, no more eye contact! (Aargh, it’s instant nausea.)

  • Third, and by no means a minor consideration: the headset could be fitted with headphones and a small DVD player for those interminable meetings.

I see a great need.

Note for the literal-minded: I’m joking here.
