So, this morning I awoke from dreams which were, as predicted, filled with the sounds of Django…

It being Herself’s birthday, a mad run of present-purchasing was the order of the day. In return for a number of dollars, $WeSellElectricalStuff provided us with a few Shiny Things to keep her occupied1, as well as tempting me with a cappuccino prepared in-store by a demonstrator who was doing his level best to sell me God’s Own Coffee Machine2.

On the way out of the store, there was yet another unexpected boon. A free copy of $LocalDaily. I don’t normally bother with the local rag apart from Saturdays, but a free read is a free read3.

Thursday’s local rag has the entertainment guide, which doesn’t often hold a lot to excite. The standard of journalism is not high, and the content appears to mainly come from cut ‘n’ paste operations on press releases from the providers of whatever’s showing/playing/in the stores.

Of course, I read the whole paper anyway, as I do when I have a paper4.

So, dear Both My Readers™, imagine my Djangophilic delight when I saw this:
Spooked by a small oval soundhole!

This is the kind of event it’s actually worth venturing out and enduring [ack!] people for.

1 Useful things, of course. Herself is quite practical most of the time.

2 It is equally a measure of his success, and of the machine’s excellence, that I placed this device on my list of Things To Acquire When Unexpected Windfalls Happen. Since GOCM costs as much as the next projected computer replacement at Chez Nosseros, this is high praise indeed.

3 Our place is bibliovore country. Even jam labels and care tags on clothing will be read.

4 It’s a habit I’ve kept for years, reading ALL of the paper. I was on holidays once, and I was reading the statewide daily in a laundromat, only to find that a friend of mine had died suddenly, and the funeral was the next day. You never know what you’ll miss…
