a snatch of pop music,
or the sound of a table, purse or pocket being shaken to death?
The conversation stops. Suddenly your friend’s focus of existence changes: you can almost feel yourself dissolve from view, as the cellphone is picked up, read and replied to.
You win extra points if the keypad sounds are enabled. Suddenly it’s like standing at the counter of Fawlty Towers while Sybil endlessly drones “Oh, I know!” into the phone and looks anywhere but the place you’re standing,
except this time Rolf Harris is in the back parlour, practising the rudiments of his Stylophone.
Ack.
It happened once too often today. I was inspired…
Blogonaut’s Afterthought: And of course life with ADHD can be managed and accommodated to some extent. There’s at least one person in my family with ADHD. The simile is a good one.
