As anybody with half a brain knows (and I include myself), the authors and artists of webcomics are creatures of unbounded idleness, given to idly jotting their crude renditions of a moment’s inspiration, before slouching off to waste the remainder of the day tobogganing on mountains of caviare, or some similar pastime…

It was ever thus:

Thanks to Yesterday’s Papers blog for the lead illustration [originally by Thomas Aloysius “TAD” Dorgan (1877 -1929)]

I’ve been going through the hits statistics for the site. There is considerable traffic looking for general or particular information on webcomics. Apart from “picture of laughing brain” at one end of the bell-curve and “tortured manga online” at the squicky end, a number of searches led to particular titles on the webcomics page of this scurrilous tissue of lies blog.

The top five, in descending order, are:

5 (Equal) - Nemi and Questionable Content.

4 - Diesel Sweeties.

3 - Octopus Pie.

2 - Savage Chickens.

And the winner, by such a margin I’d be calling for a swab if it was a racehorse, with 104 hits from different IP addresses over a few months, is Tim Kreider’s “The Pain — When Will It End?“.

The interesting thing about search hits for Kreider’s work is that the searches do not appear to be looking for the artist himself, but for his apocryphal intern, Phelætia Czochula-Hautpänz.

To pander to those drooling hordes, here is a picture of Ms C-H, nicked from the Pain website at enormous personal risk.

G’night, Both My Readers™.
