Tonight’s offering is a remaster of Stone Lantern Trail: (11:17 - Size: 14.12 MB)

Though it’s a single track, there are four parts:
[a] Sundown
[b] The Hedge Corner
[c] Among the Bamboos
[d] Pavilion in Moonlight

This piece indulges two of my peculiarities: a passion for Japanese gardens, and a continuing fascination with the way crickets can make all that noise and remain hidden…

The way Japanese gardens present a number of different vistas, each separated by a turn in the path, is reflected here. “Sundown” sets the scene and begins the path to “The Hedge Corner” where a pause and meditation on the secret of breathing is in order, courtesy of a monk playing a bamboo flute. “Among the Bamboos” is a dark, rustling, suspicious sort of place where the temptation to do silly pretend ninja things cannot be resisted. From the crest of the hill, the “Pavilion in Moonlight” can be seen. Another stone lantern is lighting the way…
