The Koels, the black ants and the kookaburras have been on about it for a couple of days.

It’s raining for once. The house tank is full. The dams are nowhere near full, but a lot of what’s inbound from the west
128 km range
will go into the city’s dams, roughly north of us, where most of the Red Bits on the bigger picture are going. There probably won’t be a lot, but any is welcome.

There’s a bit of lightning incoming too, so I may take the studio’s systems offline. Once you’ve experienced one electro-frazzled computer, you don’t want any more.
The white bits will be upon us soon.

The Koels have been lying, here. There is no rain in our immediate future, yet they’ve been insisting for days.

    Ryno says:
The rain-band has passed over us now. We didn’t lose anything to the winds, and the hail (if any) went to the north of us.

Koels and kookaburras can take up to a week, and it’s best if both are making a fuss on the same day. My bones are a pretty good warning (ditto Herself), but my best indicator is those little black ants. When they swarm up into my empty, slightly sugary, coffee mug, we’re set for rain in the next few days.

They get onto our dining table(when it’s going to rain), here. :-) I do trust the ants.

    Ryno says:
The other surefire indicator is when KitTern sleeps with her head rolled over so her brows are down, and her lower jaw is upwards. I never noticed until Herself pointed it out.

“Toowoomba could be the first city in Australia to serve recycled water to its residents.”

I wonder if the following could have anything to do with it? http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplace/Publications/ResearchStats/LabourMarketAnalysis/RegionalEmploymentProfileIndustryOccupation/ToowoombaTop40Occupations.htm

It is an eclectic mixture. I am not sure what to make of it.

    The city has beautiful architecture!

    Ryno says:
You’re looking at a very old newspaper article there, Davey. The idea was put to a vote, and defeated, long ago.

(Apart from some electrical, chemical and nuclear activity, there ain’t any actual NEW water, anyway: it’s all been drunk before.)

The architecture is what drew me to Toowoomba in the first place. See also this and this.
