What do you see when you turn out the light…
Posted by: ryno in art, perception, tags: art, migraine, perception… I can’t tell you, but I know that it’s migraine.
(with apologies to Lennon & McCartney)
It has been a yuck day, for the most part spent, as Herself (a fellow-sufferer) puts it, “listening to the ants outside STOMPING on the wall in their big hob-nailed boots“.
Attempts to describe the nausea were made. “I’m filled with a grey custard foam that tastes of shiitake mushrooms.” (Obviously a disgustation menu.)
The sight is yet another thing. At the beginning of the migraine, and well into the worst, on the far right of my vision (both eyes) is a persistent watermark. It seems to be made of that holographic foil stuff.
The apparition seems to be a static ribbon or banner of some sort, and almost always runs from a high point at left, downward to the right. Artist’s impression follows:
Oddly enough, I commissioned a hand-painted coffee mug from an artist in Canberra, may moons ago.
“I want a bright cup that will kick-start me before the coffee even goes in“, I said.
Ms Jarman, whose first name I forget, came up with No Batteries Required.
Here’s a pic: note the resemblance.

Back to bed for me. May your sleep be without troubles.

When it comes to pain, I find nausea the less painful when it comes to actual pain but for some reason I find it more annoying in comparison with heavy pains.
I wish you will awake with pain and nausea vanished.
Matter of fact.. I got it now…. just as described.. ouch!
bugger :( that’s 2 people I know that get the same type of migraine :(
I rarely get headaches (and mostly from a night on the lager) .. I’m lucky :(
Another friend of mine gets bad migraines, she had them nearly every day of her life, until she got onto feverview. Her sister has them too, but the feverview doesn’t work for her .. go figure. Dunno if it’s something that effects some people in the herb or what, maybe it’s just a placebo effect, but she swears by it.
